My Friend Toni and her husband Tim were coming over for New Years Day Dinner. I had planned two dinner parties this season but was only able to accomplish one due to work.
The table is set and ready.
I only use non scented table candles. These are beautiful and don't compete with the food.
I had a huge Christmas bouquet that was getting sad looking so I took what was still good and put it in this vase. Yes I recycled instead of buying fresh. Don't look Martha.
BBFF bought me the Pioneer Woman Cookbook for Christmas. So I used two new recipes out of it for this dinner. I am OCD, so I use a lot of sticky notes . Trust me it helps.
Oh look more sticky notes, the ones on the cabinets are for prep time, and cook time to be able to get everything to the table at once.
This is the underside of the Prime Rib, I then flipped it over and did the same thing to the top.
I cooked the roast on a bed of Kosher salt to catch the drippings and make clean up easier.
These are the best potatoes I have ever made. I put these in the bottom rack under the roast for the last 35-40 minutes and then took the roast out , turned up the heat and cooked them for the last 15 alone.
I have never made a pie in my life. Only because pie crust can be so intimidating. Once again this is the PW recipe and it was amazing. I will definitely attempt this again.
This is a flat/rustic apple pie. It was also so good ! if I do say so myself for my very first attempt!
This dinner was a non calorie counting zone. If you want to be watching your waistline, don't come to my house for dinner. I don't invite people over for salad... EVER....
The best part? My new hat from Toni! IS this just not the coolest gift ever???
Anyone who knows the JP1, it just doesn't get any better than this.
P.S. The blog will be changing this year. Updated, more sections, better pictures and fun!
Please stay tuned it's going to be a most excellent 2010~

Love the blingy hat! hehe!
What? No cupcakes??
And look at how fancy that table is. I bet your guests get all dressed up to eat at your house! And Prime Rib??? Can you believe I've never had prime rib? I lead a sheltered life, I think. lol!
I love the new PW Cookbook, too. I won mine in November. It's so much more than a cookbook and the pictures are just what this visual learner needs!
Happy New Year to you, JP!
Wishing you lots of happiness, good health, and loads of peace, joy and laughter!

Damn Diets...no dinner at JP1's house for awhile.
Everything looks wonderful! I absolutely LOVE prime rib. I don't do dinner parties very often. I use to, but haven't in a long time. You inspire me. Maybe I'll give it a try again soon.
lets not forget JP2 and BBFF, cocktail hour is at my house on the 16th.
Betty Crocker move over! I'm thinkin' I need PW's cookbook! Looks like you did awesome.
