I have ALWAYS wanted to train a specific therapy dog for Children s hospitals and Hospice.
Get certified to bring them to visit the terminally ill.
Could this dog not bring a smile to an ill child's face?
We shall see. SP likes Beagles alot as his Mom raised them, but we already have two, so we shall see...

Adorable! My aunt and uncle have one and he's a sweetie, but you gotta watch any food you might have laying around. I went to visit one year and he broke into my suitcase and ate a whole bag of chocolate covered coffee beans....and then he went into the kitchen and pulled a loaf of bread off the table and at the entire loaf!
That was one sick pup. The vet had to pump his tummy. I hear that's pretty typical for beagles and food and them not realizing they've eaten too much until it's too late.

I have one. 16 years old. Has cost me THOUSANDS of dollars becuase he gets into everything. And not because I'm not careful! He once broke into a friend's duffel bag and stole his dog's pain pills -- ate them all. He was lucky he didn't die (and that I footed the $4k bill). I could go on for days . . .
Oh, and they run away any chance they get. You can't ever let them off leash without a fence! Watch all food, put away garbage cans (mine has figured all of them out, so it must stay under the counter).
They can be really bratty, you have to be a boss with them or they will run you. They are super smart. And very stubborn. They are also hard to train without food.
I could never use mine as a therapy dog because he's more interested in eating and sniffing than keeping people company. People do think he's cute and are very attracted to him, so if he is a rare beagle that prefers people over food and sniffing, he's make a really good therapy dog!
We had a very special beagle in my family. Riley. He got cushings and only lived to be 9, but he was a character! I love the idea you have....of a therapy dog. I'd love to do a program like that, visiting nursing homes, and letting the elderly pet and visit with the dogs. It literally lowers their blood pressure!

Ive been doing alot of reading about their garbage guts. We had a dashund that destroyed and ate everything under the sun.

Oh gosh. I think beagles might be the sweetest breed of dog there is. So sweet.
I love this dog, how cute I just want to hug him/her. My dog died last year and I miss him so much. You have to make the most of them. Adorable xx
