Beef.... It's whats for scaring ponies.

We decide to go out for a leisurely stroll last night down the driveway. On the other side of the fence was a whole herd of these. Now does this face look like something sinister and evil?
Well to Star it does. It was her first Moo encounter. It went something like this.
HELL NO AND SPIN. Yep, just like that.
To her they looked like this.... Cows of Death. Beef of Satan. Creatures of Doom.
This resulted into about 10 minutes of complete drama. I figured she'd give them a nice long look go back to grazing. I was very wrong. I also learned that doing the one rein stop with a frightened horse who is already spinning, is the WORST thing you can do. She wins that way, she gets to spin AWAY This is a very close example of her antics.. This is why I can't feel my legs today.
Try doing that for 10 minutes on 16 hands of shaking , spinning, scaredy mare.
She managed to not completely calm down, but I had to finish what I started.
She did stand still long enough for me to calm down too....
I truly underestimated her reaction to the moo cows.
and YES DAD, I was wearing my helmet. !

I remember going on a trail ride once with a gal whose horse REALLY didn't care for cows. We had to ride down the road past a field of cows to get to the trail....that mare was spinning and rearing on the road, I was afraid she was going to slip and fall! Her rider just sat there and road it out (man could she stick on a horse!) and then we continued on, not fun! Maybe I should get my pony used to cows, I don't think he's seen those yet....

It doesnt help that stupid cows always have to run up to the fence and see whats going on!

Bet she does not do it again though--sounds like her reaction was strong enough that she might have gotten it out of her system.

Keep us posted

Beef of Death! lol!
Spinning...that's fun. gah!

Thankfully Baby Doll eats cows for breakfast. She stares them down and then pins her ears until the look away. Don't no cows better mess with my mare! hah!

But on the other side of the story, Baby Doll is 'skeered' of wagon wheels covered in snow. Oh and large boulders. And birds flying out of trees. Oh yeh, and kites.

Guess ya can't win 'em all.

I'm glad you didn't get tossed during your wild carousel ride, you trail riding adventurer!
