It's Offical

The transfer is in and the next big chapter of the Payne's Story is about to start.
Can you guess where we are going?

The transfer came in Friday and it's been a whirlwind of decision making all weekend.
We have 80 days give or take to report.
We're going NORTH!
It's beautiful, cold and rustic.
Star has a very long journey ahead !
Guesses? I think I made it easy enough!

Oh wow, are you going to Alaska??
if so, you are so lucky! I've dreamed about going there (or to one of the Canadian Territories- same weather, same northern lights)

Wow! Start reading the Kate Shugak mysteries right now. They are by Dana Stabenow and they make me want to see Alaska in the worst way!

Oh and um...I hear the flies are so big and nasty up there, they can pick up and carry horses far away.

Alaska is beautiful!

I second the nomination for Kate Shugak books. Also, if you never watched "Northern Exposures" when it was on TV, you can get it on DVD now...consider it research!

OH Jocelyn! You guys are going to Alaska! Wow! A whole 'nother world for horse owners LOL.

Northern Exposure wasn't even filmed in Alaska so I wouldn't rely on it too much.
Every community in Alaska is unique and has pros and cons. Anchorage is the largest city. Juneau is the capitol and can only be reached by sea or air. Wasilla and Palmer are more rural. Homer and Seward are on the sea. Fairbanks has hotter summers and colder winters. There is a publication called The Milepost that is beneficial if you're driving up.
